Published Letters from Baltimore County MembersJuly 2009Baltimore County CouncilmenDate: July 28 2009 Dear Editor: Does our Baltimore County Council really expect the voters of this county to have respect for their office when two of their own become involved in serious violations of the law and the rest of the council continues business as usual. First, we have Councilman Ken Oliver, with a Masters in Finance from Morgan State, who states he didn't understand the campaign finance laws after he received the rule book telling him the rules. Worst, he receives PBJ and still has a job making decisions on how our tax dollars are spent. Is he a benefactor of social promotion in the educational system or is it he doesn't understand the English language? Second, we have Councilman Sam Moxley getting charged with drunk driving involved in an auto accident, for the second time in four years. He drives a county owned car with county supplied insurance, which increases the premium taxpayers are charged for his indiscretions. How many times has Moxley voted on serious issue involving taxpayer monies when he was drunk and how much are his victims going to get from the county? Let any other county employee get caught doing the same as these two and they would be suspended at the very least. So I guess it is ok with Oliver if the property tax, employees collect, start using funds from the taxes to pay their mortgage and it is ok with Moxley if every Friday is demolition Friday to kick of the NASCAR weekends. I would really like to hear from the other five council members how they justify keeping a thief and drunk on the county council, I would also like the judge, who issued PBJ to Oliver, to defend the acceptance of Oliver's excuse that he didn't know or the dog ate his homework. To refuse to take a stand on these two issues is their acceptance of illegal activity, which we can not have in Baltimore County, by our elected officials. After all, this isn't Baltimore City. J.
